Duck & Waffle Local will offer takeaway and eat-in options
Sky-high, 24/7 London restaurant Duck & Waffle has served more than a million guests since opening five years ago. Spreading its wings, it is now landing on the other side of the capital in the form of Duck & Waffle Local at St James’s Market, offering a more casual, quicker-serving but equally quirky take on its award-winning sister restaurant’s duck-centric cuisine.
Sitting on the corner of Haymarket and Piccadilly, the outpost opens on May 3 and will feature new creations from chef director Dan Doherty – including a duck jam doughnut and a duck burger – alongside Duck & Waffle staples such as the Full Elvis (a decadent extravaganza of peanut butter and jelly “buttered” waffle with vanilla cream, peanut brittle, fresh berries and caramelised banana), and the signature crispy duck and waffle.
Catering to time-pressed Londoners, the restaurant will be open from 8am until 1am and will make Duck & Waffle dishes available for takeaway for the first time, as well as providing an eat-in option in a concrete-floored, corrugated-ceilinged space hung with sculptural pieces of farm machinery.
“This is for those who want the same food and drink they are used to from Duck & Waffle – but want it to be quick and accessible,” says the restaurant’s founder Shimon Bokovza.
